The effects pf group education program on cognition, balance, and ADL in chronic stroke patients

Abstract

|
Objective: This study was conducted to develop a group education program for chronic stroke patients and to test its effects on cognition, balance, and ADL, Methods: 36 stroke patients were randomly assigned to group education program (intervention group) or general rehabilitation therapy program (control group). Parameters for cognition, balance, and ADL were measured before and 6 weeks after intervention and the changes were compared between the groups. MMSE-K, LOTCA were used to measure cognition, K-BBS and W/B for balance, and MBI for ADL, Results: LOTCA K-BBS W/B, MBI showed significant improvement after intervention in both groups. There was significant difference in W/B, MBI when they were compared between the groups, Conclusion: Group education program is an effective intervention for the chronic stroke patients especially in improving balance (W/B) and ADL (MBI).
